Now this is what you'd call an 'extreme sport'

Okay, everyone knows newspapers like the Plain Dealer have had their column inches reduced drastically, causing editors to limit stories to the - uh - bare facts. But the item today about the bear who needed a ladder to get out of a skateboard park in Snowmass omitted some essential information. Even the longer report online didn't answer the question:

Did he have to leave his skateboard behind?

Talk about a bare-bones report, that one kind of takes the cake. As many have observed, newspapers aren't so much being killed as they are committing suicide. This is just one of many way.

Oh, I'm sure AP had more to the story (although there was probably nothing about a skateboard - a figment of my sick imagination) but the PD just doesn't have the space anymore. I don't think the editors and reporters are to blame. I don't know what I would do, frankly.

It's just a damn shame.
