Caution: Material presented in this course could be offensive to some students

"Trigger warnings" like this one are popping up in college catalogs these days to the approval of some but not others.

Frankly, the notion that anything could offend college students is news to me, but I'll leave it to the others to argue the point. Meanwhile, I can think of a few more warnings:

This course is so boring it may slow the pulse to a dangerously low level.

This course has produced no discernible benefit, intellectual or financial.

Students drop this course more often than any other in the catalog.

How I wish someone had flagged a few of my choices.
