Without poets, it couldn't be verse

Former US poet laureates Billy Collins and Donald Hall were guests on the Diane Rehm show yesterday.

Poet, Educator Billy CollinsIt made me recall an excellent Billy Collins presentation I was able to record and post on the JCU website a few years ago.

It also led me to wonder: Couldn't we get more productive work out of our country's poet laureate? For example, he or she could take the state-of-the-union address and set it to verse or otherwise make it more bearable.

Anyway, writer John Ettorre also made note of Collins on his blog, Working with Words.

Wow, Mike, this is a valuable addition. I'll be sure to post this myself. That photo of the standing-room-only venue says it all.
