On smartphones they're called apps, short for applications. They enable us to do so many things we might forget we can still make phone calls with them. The latest in the news -- this morning -- are cooking apps with which you can store not only that new recipe for flapjacks but the video that shows you how to flip the skillet.
Still, they haven't answered my needs. I'm looking for apps that tell me which parking meter has the most time remaining, which checkout line will move the fastest and where I left my glasses.
Back to cooking, I can just imagine a femme fatale consulting her e-mobile device for help in poisoning her lover. It's what they used to call a killer app.
