On the subject of hot air

Okay, the connection of this posting to the theme of this blog is tenuous at best, other than the fact that hot air is a colloquialism for overblown speech, something we experience daily in the election year.

The Great Wellsville Balloon RallyIn this incidence hot air is the agent that enabled the elegant craft shown in the image to rise into the sky over western New York State at the 33rd annual Great Wellsville Balloon Rally over the weekend. While all was peaceful aloft, grumbling could be heard below over a change in venue when organizers sought to avoid construction in the village. Alas, more hot air.

Nice posting, Dad. You forgot to mention the balloon depicting Dubya's head - it got so big it burst, and all the hot air dissipated into the atmosphere. Then there was the one of Cheney that was shot down by hunters...

I think these things cost enough so that they have to retain their relevance longer than even two terms.

Mike, you're doing something well when you can get a family member to leave a comment, especially a son or daughter. Good for you. And I also got a kick out of seeing your comments and a link from the new SPJ e-newsletter. Keep up the good work, oh guru of auditory writing!

Wow, a nod from a son, a mention in SPJ and a stroke from a literary luminary. Think I'll quit while I'm ahead.

That's always welcome.
